Packages is the debut project from first-time writer / director Nick Barat.
Described as a “nightmare comedy” and “Franz Kafka with an Amazon Prime account,” this short film is the latest creative evolution for Nick, who has spent two decades in culture as a DJ and producer, graphic designer, co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records and editor at The FADER Magazine.
“With my background, it would have been obvious to start with a film about ‘music,’ but Packages is still very much my sensibility, my rhythm and the way I see the world. It’s an exploration of dream logic and visual storytelling – stylized, surreal and satirical, mashing up genres while cracking some jokes in the process.”
Packages is currently submitting to film festivals for a premier in 2026.
Grind Mode, “I’m So High” — new vid for a 2008 Dade County classic. The pre-streaming, “too early to capitalize on going viral” era is one I am painfully familiar with (like most Americans, I too would like a house one day) so it’s nice to see this trio’s dollar bin banger get some flowers almost 20 years after the fact, thanks to Cudi’s mixtape version becoming a surprise TikTok (and now Billboard) hit. Plz check the YouTube comments, they are incredibly wholesome!

Christopher Walken Dune Signature Cards — loving this for many reasons, including the fact(s) that it is but one of several Walken cards throughout history, that someone asked “Does Christopher Walken Know He’s in a Dune Movie?” and (of course) that I am also a canonical member of the Topps family.
