There’s a new live-action Masters Of The Universe movie dropping this summer.
No Ivan Drago and Monica Gellar this time around (or Mr. Strickland, RIP). Instead, all the Golan Globus insanity from 1987’s attempt seems to have been replaced by a lovingly toyetic approach that I have zero problems with.
If you’ve seen the trailer, all your gripes about tentpole IP and CGI overload are just and valid. But c’mon dog, they replaced Leo with Cringer in the MGM logo, LFGGGGGGGGGG!
If I wasn’t already fully in the tank for this one, Nicholas Galitzine (delightful with Annie Hathaways in The Idea Of You) got OD swole to portray He-Man / Prince Adam. Great to have another Hunky Nick in the world (ahem) but I’m a proponent of buff avatars in general.
“Health” as a phrase and concept comes with a lot of cultural baggage ATM. I have zero interest in interrogating that right now (beyond stating for the record that I always hated the David protein bar font) but I will say that I feel much better on days when I work out and eat right than on ones where I don’t.
And to keep it 100 — microdosing a li’l dysmorphia via gym and/or clothes content in the feed doesn’t hurt! Loved Danny Brown’s recent diet breakdown: “I wanted size 28 jeans, sample size. That’s how you get a job.”
Motivation doesn’t need to be “positive.”
It needs to get you on the mat!
