Friends From New York
Now in podcast form!
Back in December I DJed the Friends From New York holiday party.
It was a lot of fun (any function where Darling Chuck and I are given free rein to get hyphy in a basement is guaranteed to be) and now I’m guesting on FFNY’s new Soundcloud podcast (update: also on Spotify, Apple + YouTube) where its founder Heidi talks to “people who move culture and shape the energy of this city.”
I’ll take it!
There’s a lotta talk abt the early days of Fool’s Gold, getting started as a DJ and other mid-aughts happenings (if ur into that sort of thing Roxy recorded one too). Also made a playlist to go along with the pod — also on Spotify — featuring New York tunes that I love from different scenes, eras and tempos.
Check ‘em out, stay tuned for more, etc!

Dylan Brady, “Piñata Store [[[ MiniMix ]]]” — this is a pro brainrot publication! DB’s brand of distorto pop fuckaroundery has always made me happy in the dumbest possible ways but going Dutch with Afrojack might’ve just set a new bar.
Rockie Rode, Rockie (Mazzy Star gone Ridgewood)
Twenty One Children, “99” (Soweto skate punk)
Babyface E, “My Love” (fried “Candy Rain”)
Murkage Dave, Brut Thoughts (for The Streets enjoyers)
Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds, “Situation” (hot grease!)
Adam Aleksic, “she X on my Y till i Z” — looking for a grammatical breakdown of “the phrasal template meme that turns various cultural references into sexual innuendos”? The author of Algospeak has u covered.
Oneohtrix Point Never on the Music That Made Him (philosophical!)
History Of Homies (the toys not ur friends though i’m sure they’re nice)
Janet McNamara, “I Failed Autism” standup set (next level)
Playlists updated…
